Sandstone Grid Infrastructure and Associated Infrastructure, near Vryburg, North West Province
Sandstone Solar Power Plant (RF) (Pty) Ltd proposes the development of grid connection infrastructure for two authorised solar power plants in the Vryburg area. The grid infrastructure is proposed to cater for the authorised Impala Solar Power Plant (DFFE Ref.: 14/12/16/3/3/1/2347) and the authorised Sonbesie Solar Power Plant (DFFE Ref.: 14/12/16/3/3/2/915).
The grid connection infrastructure includes a 132kV overhead power line and substations to enable the evacuation of the generated electricity from the authorised solar power plants to the national grid. Associated infrastructure, such as access roads and laydown areas will also be developed. This is considered to be the grid connection solution for the authorised solar power plants.
A wider grid connection corridor has been identified for the placement of the grid connection infrastructure. The corridor is just over 400 m wide and up to 6.3 km long.
The development is located approximately 10 km southwest of the town of Vryburg and falls within the Naledi Local Municipality and the greater Dr Ruth SegomotsiMompati District Municipality.
