The proposed Bellatrix Solar Power Plant near Poortje, Gauteng Province.

Bellatrix Solar Power Plant (RF) (Pty) Ltd is proposing the development of an up to 150 MW Photovoltaic Solar Energy Facility (SEF) and associated infrastructure (including, but not limited to on-site substations, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), internal and access routes, construction laydown areas and operation and management buildings). The project is proposed on Portion 6 of the farm Hartebeestfontein No. 366 – IQ. Electrical Grid Infrastructure (including power lines, cabling and substations) is also being proposed on; Portion 6 of Farm Hartebeestfontein 366 – IQ; Portions 7, 18, 26, 69, 70, 71, 78, and 80 of Farm Kalbasfontein 365 – IQ; Portions 11 and 12 of the Farm Modderfontein 345 – IQ; Portions 9, 41 and 49 of the Farm Doornpoort 347 – IQ. An access road is also proposed on Portions R/5, R/1, R/2, 4, 6 and 10 of Farm Hartebeestfontein 366 – IQ; Portions 1 and 3 of the farm Welgevonden – 367 – IQ and the remaining extent of the farm Poortje 338 – IQ. The project is to be located within the Emfuleni, Rand West City and City of Johannesburg Local Municipalities within the greater Sedibeng, West Rand and City of Johannesburg District Municipalities area of jurisdiction. The town of Poortje is located approximately 2 km east of the proposed solar power plant.

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) footprint of the Bellatrix Solar Power Plant will be 2211 ha in extent.
