Scatec Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated infrastructure near Viljoenskroon, Free State Province.

Scatec Africa (Pty) Ltd is proposing the development of the Scatec BESS and Associated Infrastructure comprising the construction of the storage system and required associated infrastructure such as substations, operation and maintenance buildings and fencing, to name a few. The capacity of the BESS will be up to 100 MW and is proposed to be bid as part of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) bid window 2 for the Battery Energy Storage Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (BESIPPPP). The development is proposed on The Farm Groot Vaders Bosch No. 592. The project is to be situated within the Moqhaka Local Municipality, Fezile Dabi District Municipality, with the town of Vierfontein located approximately 18 km southwest of the proposed development.
