Aalwyn Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and associated infrastructure near Rustenburg, North West Province.
Aalwyn Energy Facility (RF) (Pty) Ltd. proposes the development of BESS and required associated infrastructure such as substations and/or power lines, access roads, operation and maintenance buildings and fencing etc
The capacity of the BESS will be up to 77 MW and is proposed to be bid as part of the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE) bid window 2 for BESS development. The development is proposed on the Remaining Extent of Portion 12 of the Farm Elandsfontein No. 102, Registration Division JQ, situated within the Rustenburg Local Municipality, Bonjanala Platinum District Municipality. The town of Rustenburg is located approximately 30 km southeast of the proposed development.
An area of 21.5 ha is under assessment and a development footprint of 10 ha is proposed.
